Development of the online course on the new Civil Procedure in Cyprus

On 3 March 2022, a working group meeting was held in Cyprus with the experts working on the development of the online course dedicated to the new Civil Procedure Rules in Cyprus.

The new Rules of Civil Procedure in Cyprus (CPR) constitute an important step in the ongoing reform and modernisation process of the Cypriot judicial system. The CPR are developed and approved by the Supreme Court of Cyprus in May 2021 and will enter into force in September 2023.

The course on the new Civil Procedure shall support the successful implementation of the new CPR and provide an effective training instrument and information about forthcoming novelties in the civil procedure as well as explaining the new philosophy and modernised approach to civil litigation (with the central role of the principle of overriding objective and new role of judges in active case management).

The working group meeting was held in the framework of the Project on “Supporting the successful implementation of the new Rules of Civil Procedure in Cyprus” which is funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom and implemented by the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Cyprus Judicial Training School and the Cyprus Bar Association.
