Training of Trainers for judges and prosecutors on combating violence against women and domestic violence in Kosovo*

From 18-20 May 2021, under the project "Reinforcing the fight against violence against women and domestic violence - phase II", the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Justice Academy of Kosovo* organised a three days’ Training of Trainers for judges and prosecutors on combating violence against women and domestic violence.

Dr Nita Shala, Deputy Minister of Justice and National Coordinator on Domestic Violence, opened the training followed by Tankut Soykan, Deputy Head of Council of Europe Office in Pristina and Enver Fejzullahu, Director of Justice Academy of Kosovo.

A group of 10 judges and prosecutors attended this intensive training on tools, methodologies, and approaches to utilise when designing and delivering trainings in violence against women and domestic violence. Also, important aspects of local and international practices and standards were discussed, notably of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.

This training is a result of the Training Curricula for Judges and Prosecutors developed by the project. This group of trained professionals will assist the Justice Academy in their future trainings on combating violence against women and domestic violence.
