SYNERGY Network's focus on violence against Roma women

In September 2023, the SYNERGY Network against Gender-Based and Domestic Violence will lead discussions on how to best take into account the rights and needs of Roma women when working to prevent and combat gender-based violence. At the European Conference on Domestic Violence in Reykjavik Iceland, SYNERGY will hold a workshop in preparation for the launch of a handbook guided by the principle of "nothing about us, without us", which aims to improve intersectionality in EEA and Norway Grants' programmes and projects focused on gender-based violence and domestic violence. The handbook, which will be available online in October, holds the potential to reshape strategies to combat violence against Roma women in line with the Istanbul Convention, and has been produced with funding from the Norway Grants’ Bulgarian Home Affairs Programme.

The Council of Europe is the main international partner of the SYNERGY Network and functions as International Partner Organisation on gender-based violence in several countries under EEA and Norway Grants.
