Study on Issuing Restraining or Protection Orders in Cases of Domestic Violence in Ukraine

A new report in Ukraine, ‘Court Considerations on Issuing Restraining or Protection Orders in Cases of Domestic Violence: International Standards and Overview of Ukrainian National Practice’ is now available. This study is aimed for use by Ukrainian judges, assistant judges and candidates for judges, as well as lawyers, prosecutors, police, free legal aid employees, representatives of custody and guardianship agencies and children’s services, and those who intend to petition the court concerning issuance or extension of a restraining order.

Based on the analysis of national case law, international standards and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, the report makes recommendations on how to improve court proceedings on issuing and extension of the restraining orders in domestic violence cases in Ukraine.

This report was produced under the project “The Istanbul Convention: a tool to advance in fighting violence against women and domestic violence in Ukraine”.

The Ukrainian version of the Report is available on this link.
