Online HELP course on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence for law enforcement now in Armenian

Law enforcement plays an important role in addressing violence against women and domestic violence and in preventing it from happening again. Responses need to be efficient and tailored to the needs of victims and the risk of perpetrators. With this crucial responsibility in mind, the online course, "Violence against women and domestic violence for law enforcement" was launched by the Council of Europe in 2022 for police. The course has been translated into Armenian and is now available for free online.

The course consists of 3 modules and can be completed in approximately 6 hours. A Course Brief in Armenian is available on the Council of Europe’s website and the course itself can be accessed through the Council of Europe HELP online platform.

Through the course, law-enforcement professionals can learn theoretical and practical concepts related to violence against women, its many forms and impact in victims and society at large. Participants will also see guidelines on how to respond to cases of violence against women and domestic violence quickly and effectively, techniques to interview victims and perpetrators as well as practical steps by first responders, investigators, etc.

Upon successful completion of this course, a HELP statement of accomplishment (a document attesting to the successful course completion) can be generated in an electronic format and may be printed by the user.

The course was piloted in October 2023 for 15 police officers and 15 investigators.
