One-year extension of the project “Supporting the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova”

The Council of Europe has officially announced a one-year extension of the project "Supporting the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova". The project's primary goal is to enhance awareness and understanding of the requirements of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (known as the Istanbul Convention), among Moldovan authorities and other key actors.

Building on the project's initial achievements and the positive collaboration with Moldovan authorities, this one-year extension until 31 December 2024, allows the joint work to transition fluently towards the forthcoming Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova for 2025-2028. The extension aims to assist Moldova in the subsequent phases of implementing the Istanbul Convention, focusing on awareness raising, capacity building and effective coordination. The project extension is also aligned with Moldova's national policy on violence against women and domestic violence.
