The Gender Equality Commission Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, GREVIO’s President and members of the Council of Europe Secretariat participated in the Annual Colloquium on Fundamental Rights in Brussels (Belgium). This year’s Colloquium focused on women’s rights and it aimed at improving co-operation and greater political engagement for the promotion and protection of women’s fundamental rights in the European Union (EU). Participants included political decision-makers, representatives of civil society, academics, businesses and trade unions, media representatives, journalists and international and regional organisations. Topics discussed included equal participation at work and in politics, women's economic empowerment, the role of civil society, attacks on women's rights, ending violence against women and trafficking of women.
