On 27 February 2025 the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine held an Open Day to showcase its work dedicated to supporting reforms in human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. The event brought together more than 60 representatives from Ukrainian authorities and ministries, international organisations, and ambassadors from Council of Europe member states. 36 on-going projects under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” for 2023-2026 were discussed, including “Combating Violence against Women in Ukraine – Phase II” (COVAW-II).
Kateryna Levchenko, the Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy highly praised the successful long-term co-operation with the Council of Europe.
“The support provided by the Council of Europe to Ukraine is crucial...because all activities are based on the fundamental principles of the rule of law, democracy, and human rights… embodied in the projects we implement here in Ukraine. This includes programmes aimed at ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men and combating violence against women which is particularly important during a time of war.”
