Azerbaijani authorities discuss multi-agency co-operation on combating violence against women

On 25 February 2025, under EU and Council of Europe joint programme, a platform for discussion was created on multi-agency cooperation to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence.

The event brought together 25 representatives from state institutions, academia, and civil society. Participants highlighted the need for a common platform on preventing and combating violence against women to enhance coordination and address shared challenges.

Susana Pavlou, a Council of Europe expert shared best practices and European Court of Human Rights case law, outlining key policy-making stages and international standards. Taliya Ibrahimova, Head of the Legal Department at the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, discussed recent legislative amendments and their role in fostering cooperation among national authorities.

The event was organised under the EU–Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance programme, as part of the project “Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Azerbaijan.”
