The Gender Equality Commission (GEC) held its 21st plenary meeting from 11 to 13 May 2022, in Strasbourg and online. GEC members had the opportunity to exchange with Iris Luarasi, President of the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO), about ongoing activities in the member states regarding combating violence against women and action towards signature, ratification and implementation of the Istanbul Convention. The impacts of the war in Ukraine on women were also addressed in an exchange with Oleksii Boniuk, from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and Kateryna Cherepakha, Director of the NGO La Strada-Ukraine. A thematic discussion on gender stereotypes and sexism took also place with two academics from the University of Luxembourg.
