Open School Data (OSD) is increasingly shaping education systems by promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making. By making school-level information accessible to the public, OSD has the potential to improve educational outcomes, strengthen trust in institutions, and support more equitable education policies. However, as OSD initiatives expand across Europe, significant challenges remain, particularly in relation to ethical use, data protection, and uneven implementation across national contexts.
The upcoming EduTalk@CoE on ‘Open School Data Policies: Enhancing Transparency and Accountability across Education Systems’ will explore these critical issues, bringing together leading experts to reflect on how OSD can be responsibly developed and effectively used within education systems.
During this event, our moderator Muriel Poisson from UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) and invited speakers will share their perspectives on key questions such as:
- How can OSD improve decision-making, school improvement, and educational outcomes?
- What ethical, privacy, and security challenges do schools and governments face when implementing OSD?
- What role does data transparency play in strengthening educational equity and public accountability?
- How does public perception of OSD influence the success of open data policies?
Join us for this engaging EduTalk@CoE on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, from 11:00 to 12:00 CET, held online via Zoom.
Policymakers, educators, researchers, school leaders, and all those interested in OSD are warmly invited to take part in this timely discussion on the future of Open School Data in Europe.
