The ENIC Bureau and NARIC Advisory Board met at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 4 September 2026 to review recent developments and coordinate the next steps for the ENIC and NARIC Networks.

Representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Commission and UNESCO provided updates on developments relevant to the Networks’ work.

A central item on the agenda was the evaluation of the 2026 ENIC-NARIC Joint Annual Meeting in Athens. The meeting was a considerable success, with 90% of participants rating it positively. Members reflected on the evaluation results and the lessons that can inform the organisation of future meetings.

Discussions then turned to the 2027 Joint Annual Meeting, which will take place in Oslo, Norway, from 20 to 22 June 2027. The Bureau and Advisory Board considered an initial programme outline, the planned call for workshop proposals, the establishment of workshop and agenda subgroups, and operational guidance for organising the meeting.

Participants also reviewed progress under the 2025–2027 EB/NAB Workplan, focusing on its three main dimensions:

• strengthening the quality of the ENIC and NARIC Networks;
• fostering cooperation and dialogue across the Networks; and
• enhancing their visibility and transparency.

Other agenda items included the Networks’ webinar series, a survey on their global dimension, stakeholder engagement, preparations for a forthcoming NARIC meeting, and updates from ELCORE and the Technical Support Team.

The meeting helped consolidate the results achieved in Athens and advance preparations for welcoming the ENIC-NARIC community to Oslo in June 2027.
