Ireland becomes Observer with the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes

On 4 January 2019, the Ministry for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht of Ireland requested Observer status with the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Pursuant to article 2.3 of Committee of Ministers Resolution (2013)66 confirming the establishment of the EPA, the Governing Board granted this status to Ireland for a period of one year, starting 31st January 2019.

The EPA on Cultural Routes counts today 32 member States and 33 certified Cultural Routes.

At present, there are 5 Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Ireland: the Viking Routes, the European Route of Jewish Heritage, the European Cemeteries Route, In the Footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson and the Via Charlemagne.
