Vreta Abbey was the first nunnery in Sweden, in operation from the beginning of the 12th century to 1582, and one of the oldest in Scandinavia. The “Klosterliv i Vreta” Association works to convey the history and activity of the Monastery of the Vreta to the public. The Association also works to preserve and maintain the remains of the Monastery. The Association has its seat in Fattigstugan, one of the old houses near the abbatial church.
