Steering Committee of the project discussed impact and achievements in the economic crime area

The sixth Steering Committee (SC) Meeting of the Council of Europe/European Union joint Project against Economic Crime (PECK III) took place on 24 November 2023 with the aim to discuss the progress made in the past seven months and results achieved.

The meeting brought together representatives of beneficiary institutions in Kosovo, Project team and EU office in Pristina.

The SC members discussed the results achieved in the reporting period as well as the ongoing and upcoming activities. Additionally, the beneficiary institutions reported on main achievements in the area of economic crime to date as a direct result of support provided within the framework of PECK III.
Moreover, the meeting was addressed by special guests representing the Special Prosecution Office and Special Department at the Basic Court of Pristina who provided positive feedback on the impact that the mentoring programme (on-the-job training) had in increasing effectiveness of prosecuting and adjudicating money laundering offences.

Members of the SC reiterated their commitment to continue cooperation and emphasised the need for further support and contribution of the Council of Europe through PECK III taking into account strategic priorities in the fight against economic crime in Kosovo.

The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
