Implementation of the National Horizontal Action Plan against Corruption in Cyprus

Within the framework of the 2020 CoE/EU Structural Reform Support Programme (SRSP) envelope, the Economic Crime and Cooperation Division is assisting Cypriot authorities with implementation of specific actions envisaged by the National Horizontal Action Plan against Corruption. The project has started on 17 June 2020, and will last for 24 months. Through tailored activities, the project seeks to contribute to:

• More effective implementation and monitoring of anti-corruption actions from the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan;
• Strengthened corruption prevention through improved administrative capacity, legislative framework and risk assessment methodologies; and
• Improved strategic communication and increased public awareness on the need to fight corruption.

Areas of specific focus include regulation of conflict of interest, continuing anti-corruption education, strengthening of mechanism for prevention of health insurance fraud, and awareness raising on fight against corruption.

The total project budget is 334,003.66 Euros. The project was funded by the European Union via the Structural Reform Support Programme and implemented by the Council of Europe - Economic Crime and Cooperation Division, in cooperation with the European Commission.
