Back Workshop on “Strengthening legislation regulating inspection and supervision activities at the federal and municipal levels in the Russian Federation”

Within the project on “Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs in the Russian Federation from Corrupt Practices at the Municipal Level” - PRECOP II the Council of Europe organised the second workshop in a series of activities dedicated to reviewing the regulatory framework in the field of inspections, analysing its impact on Russian businesses, and identifying potential areas for improvement. The Council of Europe experts presented the updated Technical Paper analysing the Russian legislation and its application in practice and providing a comparison vis-à-vis good international practices.

Over 40 participants representing Federal and Regional Business Ombudspersons’ offices from ten pilot regions, federal authorities involved in the reform process and regional inspections authorities discussed the current situation in the Russian Federation and contributed to the development of legal and policy recommendations taking into account the latest developments in this area, including the on-going reform process in the field of inspection and supervision activities, including the new draft law on state control (supervision) and municipal control, which was extensively discussed by the participants following the presentation delivered by Leading Advisor of the Department on Inspection Activities at the Ministry of Economic Development of Russian Federation.
