Workshop on corruption proofing of legislation

A workshop on Corruption proofing of legislation took place Tuesday 14 July 2020 in Tunis. Corruption proofing of legislation is a review of the form and content of legal acts (drafted or adopted) in order to detect and minimise the risks of corruption that these acts could facilitate during their implementation. The activity brought together several relevant direct or indirect stakeholders of the legislative process in Tunisia, in particular, the services of the Legal Adviser to the Presidency of the Government, the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC), the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, the services of the State lawsuits authority, the administrative court, representatives of the legal services of certain ministries and other actors.

The activity objectives are to (i) present the basic concepts related to corruption proofing of legislation and the experiences of countries that have developed methodological tools in this area; (ii) to held exchange on the relevance of a national mechanism whose aim is to ensure the corruption proofing of legal texts; and (iii) to discuss the roadmap for its future implementation.

The meeting served to present, discuss and exchange with the beneficiaries on the essential concepts related to corruption proofing of legislation and similar experiences from countries that have implemented corruption proofing tools of legal texts to prevent the risks of corruption.

This activity was organised under the initiative of INLUCC with the support of the Tunisia Anti-corruption Project (TAC) within the framework of the joint programme “Project to support independent bodies in Tunisia” (PAII- T) which is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and is implemented by the latter.
