On 24 December 2020, the Government of Kosovo formally approved the Action Plan for improving the AML/CFT system. The AML/CFT Action Plan is based on the 2018 AML/CFT Assessment of Kosovo’s compliance with international standards in prevention of money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism conducted within the framework of PECK II.
The Action Plan contains measures for improving Kosovo’s technical compliance with the FATF Recommendations as well as the effectiveness of authorities in countering and preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.
In addition, the decision of the Government also includes the Monitoring Tool to review and evaluate the implementation of Assessment Report recommendations, as well as Guidelines for the application of this tool. This Monitoring Tool was prepared by a Council of Europe expert and shared with the Financial Intelligence Unit of Kosovo, which has been mandated to monitor the implementation of measures.
