Information sessions on the internal mechanisms for the protection of whistleblowers

Complementary to the mentoring session held on 18-20 November 2019, PECK II Project supported the Anti-Corruption Agency to raise awareness in the public sector on functioning of the internal mechanism on protection of whistleblowers. Two information sessions took place on 21 and 22 November 2019 for staff from central and local authorities, designated to implement the Law on Protection of Whistleblowers. As a result of sessions, 41 participants (20 women and 21 men) representing both central and local institutions improved their knowledge of Council of Europe standards and European good practices in relation to the protection of confidentiality, risks for whistleblowers, retaliation types, importance for developing strategies and tools to protect the identity of whistleblowers etc. Various case studies were used to illustrate the application of the above.

During the event, participants received the Handbook on Protection of Whistleblowers published under the framework of PECK II Project to serve as guidance in their work. The Handbook is available here.
