The Council of Europe through its joint EU/Council of Europe “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III) is supporting the Parliamentary Working Group on the drafting of the Law on Crypto assets in view of its alignment with international standards and good practice in the anti-money laundering/countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) area.

In this respect, 30 representatives from the Assembly, line ministries, Financial Intelligence Unit, Central Bank, Police, High Prosecutorial Council, Tax administration, Customs, Chamber of Industry, Chamber of Commerce and reporting entities participated in the Working Group discussions on the review of the draft law on Crypto assets.

The aim of the event was to provide a platform for the Parliamentary Working Group to discuss the possibilities and challenges related to the regulation of virtual assets in Kosovo, focusing on the setup of relevant mechanisms, procedures of its regulation and the supervision based on international standards and good practice. The meeting also served as a forum for sharing good practice and challenges by regulators, partner institutions and the private sector.
The Project will continue to support the Working Group in developing the robust legislative framework on virtual assets and, its further implementation process.

The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
