The Council of Europe/EU joint “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III) is supporting the authorities of Kosovo in providing outreach to designated non-financial businesses and professions (DNFBPs) on anti-money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) requirements and obligations.

In this respect, over 70 lawyers, notaries, accountants, auditors and car rental agents participated at the “Training for Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism” which took place on 20-23 June 2022 in Pristina.

The aim of this training was to promote a better understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing risks by reporting entities and implementing a risk-based approach to their AML/CFT obligations.

Participants had the opportunity to discuss case studies and concrete steps to undertake internal controls by implementing preventive measures which were accompanied by check lists with assessment criteria provided by a Council of Europe expert. The assessment criteria enable the reporting entities to effectively implement their AML/CFT obligations.

To further support the reporting entities in meeting their obligations, the project is developing a Guideline for Legal Professionals on Detecting and Preventing Money Laundering aimed at strengthening preventive measures in areas identified by the Council of Europe AML/CFT Assessment.

The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
