On 5 December 2018, the State Prosecutor’s Office and the State Audit Institution of Montenegro will sign a Protocol on Cooperation in Economic Crime Cases. Signing of the Protocol aims at strengthening and facilitating cooperation between the two institutions on cases involving abuse of state resources investigated both by the State Audit Institution in its financial oversight capacity and the General Prosecutor’s Office in its criminal prosecution capacity. The closer cooperation between the two institutions is expected to boost the effectiveness of economic crime investigations and was one of the recommendations provided by the Council of Europe through the CoE/EU Horizontal Facility Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro.

The Protocol will be signed by Mr Ivica Stankovic Supreme State Prosecutor, on behalf of the State Prosecutor’s Office, and Mr Milan Dabovic, President of the Senate, on behalf of the State Audit Institution. The Council of Europe will continue providing expert support to the two institutions as they implement the Protocol through the CoE/EU Horizontal Facility Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro.
