The EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance continues to support the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia in developing laws and procedures related to the investigation of corruption offences.

At the end of May, the Council of Europe received an official request from the Ministry of Justice to address a set of questions on international cooperation within criminal investigations. The questions were related to obtaining operative information through cooperation networks, their use in criminal proceedings in cases of the limitation of use of such information, and preparation of Mutual Legal Assistance requests on the basis of operative information.

The Technical Paper responding to the questions posed by the Ministry of Justice was developed by the Council of Europe expert and shared with the beneficiary in July. A follow-up videoconference on international cooperation in criminal matters will be held in September, with the representatives of the Ministry of Justice, to further discuss the points addressed in the technical paper, related matters and next steps.

This support is provided within the framework of the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance II Project on “Strengthening institutional capacities to fight and prevent corruption in Armenia” (PGGII-ARM) which is funded jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
