Roadmap to improve access to education, training and employment for NEET young people

Representatives of national authorities gathered today for a round table to discuss the draft roadmap for implementing recommendations from the gender-sensitive needs assessment survey on NEET (Not in Employment, Education and Training youth, with particular focus on women and girls.

Participants reviewed the report on VET (Vocational Education and Training institutions) related needs, identifying key challenges and priorities to improve access to education, training and employment for NEET young people in the Republic of Moldova.

The round table included a detailed presentation of proposed interventions, aiming to strengthen the VET system and support the reintegration of NEET youth into education.

Further discussions focused on labour market measures aimed at facilitating employment opportunities for NEET youth. Targeted initiatives were proposed to strengthen skill development and create more inclusive opportunities.

The round table highlighted the need for coordinated action between government institutions to ensure the roadmap is effectively implemented, promoting sustainable solutions to reduce youth unemployment and social exclusion, especially among young women and girls.

NEET is an acronym for Not in Education, Employment or Training, and refers to young people who are not in employment and are not pursuing any form of education or vocational training.

This event was organised in the context of the Council of Europe project “Enhancing employment rights in the Republic of Moldova” in the field of social labour rights in the Republic of Moldova.  The project is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024 and is co-funded by the Austrian Development Agency and the Council of Europe.
