The Council of Europe supported the organisation of the donors’ co-ordination meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). The meeting gathered international development partners who provide assistance to the SCM in view of strengthening the institutional capacity of the SCM and the judicial system in general in the Republic of Moldova.

The objective of the meeting was to present the newly adopted Strategic Plan of the SCM for the period 2025-2029 and discuss donor support for the implementation of the Strategic Plan in a co-ordinated manner. During the meeting, the strategic objectives of the SCM for 2025-2029 were discussed, which include: strengthening the SCM and its specialised bodies, adopting a coherent human resources policy throughout the judicial system, ensuring the integrity of judges, defending the independence and the status of judges, effective administration of the judiciary system, ensuring the quality of the judicial act, increasing transparency and improving external communication.

The Strategic Plan of the SCM for 2025-2029 was developed with the support of the two projects implemented by the Council of Europe: the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Support to the Justice Reform in the Republic of Moldova” and project “Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova – phase 2” funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State
