A productive meeting today between Ms Natalia Voutova, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău, and Mr Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Council of Europe and the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, with discussions focusing on ongoing co-operation, democratic reforms, and Moldova's path towards EU accession.

The Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025–2028 is specifically tailored to support the country's reform agenda, reinforcing our commitment to working hand in hand with Moldovan institutions on the reforms that matter most to its citizens. In this regard, the expertise of the Venice Commission continues to play an important role in supporting the Parliament in strengthening the quality of legislation and advancing key democratic reforms.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of the Council of Europe's New Democratic Pact for Europe and the vital role that national parliaments play in countering democratic backsliding and strengthening democratic resilience across the continent.

The Council of Europe remains a committed partner in supporting Moldova in building strong, resilient democratic institutions for the benefit of all its citizens.
