Four representatives from the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the People’s Advocate Office participated in the international conference on “Protecting the Human Rights of Women and Girls in Migration: Standards and Promising Practices”, which took place on 28 April 2025, in Ankara, Türkiye.

The conference brought together over 75 participants, including representatives from state institutions, social and legal professionals, international organisations, and civil society organisations to tackle critical issues impacting women and girls in migration. It served as a platform for cross-border knowledge exchange and collaboration with a view to ensuring the protection, dignity and empowerment of women and girls in migration while also underlining their resilience and contributions.

During the event, Mrs Tatiana Ciumaș, Head of International Cooperation and Project Management Directorate, General Inspectorate for Migration, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, shared national practices and experience, as well as the challenges faced in safeguarding human rights and empowering women and girls in migration. She also presented the Resilience Journal for Adolescents as an effective tool to strengthen the General Inspectorate for Migration’s holistic support framework and contribute to inclusive, youth-focused integration practices.

The conference was organised as part of the action on “Strengthening the human rights protection in the context of migration in Türkiye”, within the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”, and in co-operation with the Council of Europe project on “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova: Phase II”, funded under the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025-2028.
