Between 11-12 December, a delegation of Moldovan officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministry of Health, National Police Inspectorate and civil society organizations recently paid a study visit to the Netherlands to learn about best practices in dealing with children in conflict with the law. The aim of the visit was to improve Republic of Moldova's juvenile justice system by studying the Dutch model, based on rehabilitation and reintegration.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the Dutch system for children in conflict with the law. During the meetings the following were discussed: financial aspects of services for children in conflict with the law, the institutional structure and form of organization/subordination/control, techniques for attracting other systems with child protection competences in service provision, the interdependence of the service with other systems and services provided to children, and methods and techniques for preventing situations of risk for children.

The study visit was prepared and supported by the Council of Europe project on ”Prevention and protection of children from violence, including in the digital environment in the Republic of Moldova”. This visit contributes to the achievement of the intermediate outcome of Project 2 "Professionals in governmental authorities dealing with the monitoring of children's rights and the protection of children against violence, sexual abuse and exploitation work in accordance with the Council of Europe guidelines and standards on child-friendly justice".
