17 judges and prosecutors (10 women and 7 men) enhanced their understanding of investigating and prosecuting cases of violence against women, domestic violence, with a focus on femicide, in line with the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention).

The 2-day workshop focused on domestic violence as a social phenomenon, protection and support measures for victims, and the national legal framework, including criminal, civil, and procedural law. Participants also examined practical challenges in investigation and adjudication, as well as discussion on the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The seminar was organised under the Council of Europe project “Supporting the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova – Phase II”, in partnership with the Women’s Law Centre and the National Institute of Justice, and with financial support from Sweden.
