The Council of Europe supported the launch of the 2026 National Specialisation Programme for justice sector professionals addressing violence against women and domestic violence, initiated by the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.

25 participants (18 women and 7 men) including judges, prosecutors and criminal investigation officers took part in two specialised workshops focused on the investigation and prosecution of cases in line with the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention ) and national legislation.

The workshops marked the start of Module I of the Programme on women’s access to justice, including the examination of domestic violence and femicide cases.

The initiative contributes to a professional, coherent, and victim-centred justice response, in line with the Republic of Moldova’s commitments under the Istanbul Convention and GREVIO findings in the Baseline Evaluation Report for the Republic of Moldova.

The activity was organised under the Council of Europe project “Supporting the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova – Phase II ”, in partnership with the Women’s Law Center.
