The 7th session of the Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe was organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in the framework of the co-operation programme to strengthen the rule of law and Russian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The Conference concerned the role of the public prosecutor in the protection of individuals. In this context, the Conference addressed two topics : "the duties of the public prosecutor in the criminal field towards victims and witnesses, and in particular towards juveniles" and "the duties of the public prosecutor towards persons deprived of their liberty".

The Conference ended on 6 July and was followed by the inaugural meeting of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE).
