The Conference was organised in cooperation with the Prosecutor general of Celle, Lower Saxony (Germany) and brought together high level prosecutors from almost all Council of Europe member States.
Other themes concerned:
- The role and organisation of public prosecution and international courts and bodies and its relations with national prosecution services;
- Prosecutors’ duties outside the criminal sector
- Fundamental principles of ethics for Prosecutors.
In preparation to the Conference, its coordinating Bureau prepared a questionnaire with a view to collecting information concerning the present situation of Public Prosecution in Europe with regard to the implementation of Recommendation (2000) 19 on the role of public prosecution in the criminal justice system and with regard to the themes addressed at the Conference.
