Under the CAHAI’s direction, the PDG is expected to expedite the preparation of the Feasibility Study of a legal framework on the design, the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) based on Council of Europe standards, one of the key outputs of the CAHAI in its two-year mandate. This first meeting of experts will provide the opportunity to launch the drafting process of the study and discuss in-depth the orientations provided by the CAHAI during its second plenary meeting in July 2020. Issues such as the analysis of the risks and opportunities arising from the use of AI, the mapping of existing international legal instruments and ethical guidelines on AI, the definition of the scope of the Council of Europe's legal framework on AI as well as the identification of the most appropriate mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of the legal framework.
