Digital Development Unit, Council of Europe, participated in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE Region 2026, held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The Forum brought together representatives from governments, international organisations, civil society and the private sector to discuss progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In addition to bilateral meetings with partners, including the International Telecommunication Union, Ms Ovcearenco, Head of the Digital Development Unit, contributed as a speaker to the side event “Human-Centric Digital Transformation”, co-organised by the International Telecommunication Union, Council of Europe, European Union, Azerbaijan, Czechia, Kazakhstan and Poland. She also contributed  to the  SDG 17 roundtable on “Partnerships for Human-Centric Inclusive Digital Transformation”.

Council of Europe contribution was devoted to the importance of ensuring that digital transformation remains human-centric, with a central role for human rights, trust and inclusive partnerships.  Council of Europe’s work and tools supporting responsible and rights-based digital development were presented.
