- Beschreibung
- The Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este Institute is an office with special autonomy under the Ministry of Culture of Italy, responsible for the management and promotion of Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este in Tivoli.
The Villa d'Este in Tivoli, with its palace and garden commissioned by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este (1509–1572), is one of the most remarkable and comprehensive illustrations of Renaissance culture. Its innovative design along with the architectural components in the garden make this a unique example of an Italian 16th-century garden, and an early model for the development of European gardens (www.europeanhistoricgardens.eu/en/portfolio-item/villa-deste-2).
