1975 -   BA in sociology and political science University of Iceland

1991 -   Th. M.  (Theology and ethics) Harvard Divinity school

Professional activities

(a) Present positions: 

Parish priest (The Icelandic Church) and a part time journalist.

(b) Work at national level:  

Chairman of a committee that laid foundation for long term strategies for mutual integration of the immigrant and non-immigrant populations in Icelandic society (2005).  Articles against racism and xenophobia and anti Semitism in Icelandic newspapers. 

 (c) International work: 

Member of ECRI since 1997. Vice-Chair of ECRI 2003-2005.
A former assistant of the Bishop of Iceland and as such responsible for foreign relations of the Church of Iceland.

Publications and other works:

 Two books of sociological nature 1984 and 1989. 
 

Language skills: 

Icelandic (native speaker), English (fluent), Danish, Norwegian and Swedish (good), German and French (basic).

Other relevant information: 

Member of the board of the Human Rights office in Iceland 1995-1998 (Independent Human rights institution).
Member of the Board of the Icelandic Church Committee for Social and Political Affairs.
