European Knowledge Centre for Youth Poliy - EKCYP

The European Knowledge Centre was developed within the framework of the Youth Research Partnership between the Council of Europe and European Commission. It is a tool for facilitating the Council of Europe’s monitoring of youth policy and the European Commission follow-up to the White Paper on Youth.

It is supported by a European wide network of European Knowledge Centre correspondents who were nominated by the member states’ ministries. Sixteen countries have participated so far: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In 2006 all 46 European countries will be involved. The correspondents answer questionnaires directly into the Core Content of the EKC system on the topics of Youth Policy, Participation, Information, Voluntary Activities and a Better Understanding of Youth.

There are many other features to the European Knowledge Centre.

  • It will be used to collect and disseminate examples of good practice on participation to support the Council of Europe’s European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life
  • It has been developed to share documents from research, policy and practice through a powerful database

The news on youth related topics can be adapted according to the user’s profile of interests
