This joint Coe/EU initiative's overriding objective is to consider diversity and non discrimination as ongoing angles of media coverage.
To do so, MEDIANE offers the media and their professionals the opportunity of committing themselves to sharing professional practices,
either during European or thematic encounters or through European Exchanges.
The Online Resource Centre is an online platform providing material on media, diversity and non-discrimination.
This includes practice examples from the areas of media production, journalism and media training, media literacy education
and editorial management; Council of Europe references , and selected web content on diversity and non-discrimination.
The "Speak out against discrimination" Campaign focused on the role of the media in a multicultural Europe.
It derives its mandate from the Council of Europe’s White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue “Living together as equals in dignity”. The campaign primarily targeted media industry professionals and was build around 3 main objectives:
1 – Training media professionals,
2 – Writing, seeing and hearing diversity in the media,
3 – Producing and disseminating innovative and inclusive information.
