Activities of the Directorate general of Democracy and Human Dignity
What we do
The activities of the Directorate General of Democracy and Human Dignity reflect the Council of Europe three key missions: the development of legal standards (conventions and treaties), the monitoring the implementation of those standards in the state Parties, and the carrying out cooperation activities to support member States in putting into practice the standards.
These activities are often referred to as the Council of Europe’s dynamic triangle, which is part of the unique added value of the Organisation.

This triangle links together intergovernmental committees, monitoring mechanisms and cooperation programmes.
