Reinforcing the capacity of the judiciary to apply European human rights standards at the national level in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Phase II

The project "Reinforcing the capacity of the judiciary to apply European human rights standards at the national level in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is implemented from 1 March 2014 until 31 August 2017 thanks to the generous financial support from the Government of Norway. The objective of the project is to provide support in strengthening the judicial independence in Bosnia and Herzegovina by encouraging their cooperation and conformation of judicial practice and strengthening their capacities concerning the application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Social Charter on a national level.  

The three main goals of the project are:

  • To support the harmonisation of judicial practice within Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the European Court of Human Rights case law in respect of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • To enhance the capacity of judges, prosecutors and lawyers to apply the European Convention on Human Rights and European Social Charter standards at the national level
  • To strengthen co-operation and exchanges amongst legal professionals throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Strengthening judiciary capacities in the application of the European Convention on Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Phase I
 

The project "Strengthening judiciary capacities in the application of the European Convention on Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is implemented form September 2012 until end of February 2014 thanks to the generous financial support from the Government of Norway. The objective of the project is to provide support in strengthening the judicial independence in BiH by encouraging their cooperation and conformation of judicial practice and strengthening their capacities concerning the application of the European Convention on Human Rights on a national level.  

The three main goals of the project are:

  • To provide help of experts in establishing the instance for appellation of BiH;
  • Enhancement of existing instruments of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), including development of data bases containing judicial practice and incorporation of the Educational program of the Council of Europe on human rights for judiciary into instruments of education to enhance cooperation between courts on all levels;
  • Promotion of conformation of  judicial practice in BiH and conformation of relevant judicial practice with the practice of the European Court on Human Rights; strengthening capacities of judges and prosecutors in the everyday application of standards set by the European Convention on Human Rights.
