Youth develop peacebuilding toolkit at Budapest study session

Young people from 11 European countries met between May 18–22 at the European Youth Centre in Budapest for the “Going further: rights and opportunities for all,” study session on human rights, social inclusion and peacebuilding organized by the Council of Europe Youth Department in partnership with Don Bosco Youth-Net.

Participants, drawn from DBYN members and partner organizations, explored human rights education and youth participation and used the Lego Serious Play method to define peacebuilding and social inclusion in their local contexts.

Guest speakers included Katalin Faix and Tamara Živadinović, who discussed the Budapest Women Citizens’ Assemblies and KOMS (National Youth Council of Serbia), and Beatriz Melo and Chiara Gullotta, Educational Advisors of the Council of Europe who outlined the organisation’s approach to human rights education and its local impact.

By week’s end, attendees produced a peacebuilding toolkit they plan to distribute to youth centres, youth organisations and local communities, providing ready-to-use materials to support rights-based, inclusive initiatives.
