On 22 June 2026 in Strasbourg, Emma Wedner, Chair, and Xesc Mainzer, Vice-Chair, of the Advisory Council on Youth held a series of bilateral meetings with senior representatives of the Council of Europe following their election in March 2026.
They met with Ambassador Andreu Jordi, Chair of the Committee of Ministers’ Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture, Sport, Youth and Environment (GR-C); Ambassador Domenik Wanger, President of the Rapporteur Group on Programme, Budget and Administration (GR-PBA); Michael O’Flaherty, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights; and Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
The meetings offered an opportunity to exchange views on the role of young people’s participation in the work of the Organisation and on the contribution of the Advisory Council on Youth as a statutory partner in the Council of Europe’s co-managed youth sector.
The discussions also addressed continued co-operation between the Advisory Council and the Organisation’s institutional bodies, with a view to ensuring that young people’s perspectives and priorities are reflected in relevant policy and institutional processes.
The visits formed part of the Advisory Council’s ongoing dialogue with Council of Europe bodies and representatives on youth policy and participation and followed the recent exchange of views of the youth statutory bodies with the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
