Mr Serhiy Holovaty, member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe in respect of Ukraine, participated in the XIII Annual International Forum on the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights titled "The European Convention on Human Rights in the Legal System and Legal Education in Ukraine: Scientific and Applied Dimension." The forum took place on 1–2 May 2026 in Lviv, Ukraine.
This two-day event was co-organised by the OSCE Support to Ukraine Programme within the framework of the project "Guaranteeing Respect for Human Rights in the Administration of Justice, Phase II" and the Council of Europe Project "Support to Ukraine in the Implementation of Council of Europe Standards on the Judiciary." Additional organisers included the Law Faculty of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the Supreme Court, and the National School of Judges of Ukraine.
In his intervention, Mr Holovaty referenced the Updated Rule of Law Checklist adopted by the Venice Commission at its Plenary Session in December 2025 and stressed that legal education is essential for ensuring full respect for human rights and effective implementation of European standards in Ukraine’s judicial system.
