On 24 April 2026, the Vice-President of the Venice Commission, Mr Timothy Otty, participated in the International Conference "The future of the "marketplace of ideas" amid the rise of the internet, fake news, and AI: challenges for the Constitutional Courts" organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova within the framework of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers and opened by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Ms Maia Sandu.
The conference served as a platform for exchanging views on the challenges posed by digitalization, fake news, and artificial intelligence to public discourse, and on the role of constitutional courts in addressing these developments.
Mr Otty delivered opening remarks and participated in Panel II: "Courts dealing with Platforms, Algorithms, and AI".
