Training for public institutions on anti-discrimination by Ombudspersons staff members

Lawyers of the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who successfully completed Training for Trainers, are conducting training for representatives of public institutions in Zenica on 14 November 2018.

The training aims at raising awareness on European anti-discrimination standards of persons working in public administration, through presenting an overview of the most common cases of discrimination at the national level. It enables participants to recognize discrimination, act preventively and to establish a direct contact with the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights when faced with dilemmas on how to proceed in individual cases. Manual on anti-discrimination produced under the Action was handed to the participants as a further tool for an efficient prevention of discrimination and taking adequate corrective actions.

The training is organised within the framework of the Action implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina: “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to Fight Discrimination” – which is a part of the Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”, as a three-year programme (May 2016 – May 2019), focusing on three themes: ensuring justice, fighting corruption, economic crime and organised crime, as well as combating discrimination and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups.
