Guidelines for Crisis Communication presented to prosecutors from the southern region of Montenegro

The Guidelines on Crisis Communication developed under the joint European Union and Council of Europe action "Accountability and professionalism of the judicial system of Montenegro" and adopted by the Prosecutorial Council in December 2020, were presented to the heads of prosecution offices and press prosecutors from the southern region of Montenegro. The event was organised in co-operation with the Supreme State Prosecution Office, in Budva on 19 May, gathering representatives of the basic prosecution offices from Cetinje, Ulcinj, Bar, Kotor and Herceg Novi.

During the presentation, it was stressed out that the work of the state prosecution is under public scrutiny, which calls for increased transparency of prosecutors’ work. In that sense, the participants referred to CCPE’s Opinion No. 8 which states the following: "Transparency in the performance of prosecutor's duties is an essential component of the rule of law. Not only must justice be done, but it must also be seen to be done."

This presentation was organised under the action "Accountability and professionalism in the judicial system of Montenegro" which is part of the joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022".
