A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities visited Zakarpattia, Ukraine, from 18 to 19 September 2025, to evaluate progress made in the protection of national minorities.

The delegation had meetings in Uzhhorod, Kontsovo and Berehove with representatives of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, local authorities as well as civil society and representatives of national minorities to discuss the implementation of the Framework Convention. Prior to this, the delegation held a series of online meetings with various representatives of national minorities, as well as with academics and researchers. To conclude this stage of the monitoring process, the delegation will meet with representatives of the Government of Ukraine.

The Advisory Committee will then draw up its opinion on the implementation of the Framework Convention in Ukraine containing specific findings and recommendations for follow-up. The opinion is expected to be adopted and published in 2026.
