From 30 June to 3 July 2025, the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities held its 86th plenary meeting in Strasbourg.
The Advisory Committee adopted its final opinions on the implementation of the Convention by Cyprus, Czechia, Malta and Spain. These opinions will become public at the end of the year once the authorities' comments, if any, received.
The Advisory Committee also approved its draft opinions on the implementation of the Convention by Hungary and Portugal, which will now undergo a confidential dialogue phase with the states parties concerned before being examined again and adopted at a forthcoming plenary session.
On 30 June, Petra Roter, President of the Advisory Committee, also held consultations with Bertil Cottier, Chair of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), on issues of common interest.
