A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities is visiting Germany this week (19-23 January 2026) to evaluate progress made in the protection of national minorities.

This visit of the Advisory Committee to Germany is the sixth of the kind. The delegation is holding meetings in Flensburg, Kiel, Berlin, Dresden and Bautzen/ Budyšin with representatives of the government, national minorities, as well as civil society to discuss the implementation of the Framework Convention in the country.

Following the visit, the Advisory Committee will draw up its Sixth Opinion on the implementation of the Framework Convention in Germany, containing specific findings and recommendations for follow-up. This opinion is expected to be published in early 2027.
